Introducing Nissan’s Brand New Logo

Nissan has big plans for the future. The automaker is looking to make advancements in the field of electric power, roll out new models, remove waste from its manufacturing processes, and reshape its whole aesthetic. To serve as a guiding symbol and help spearhead this shift, Nissan recently unveiled a brand new logo.

Nissan’s previous logo lasted for two decades, but the automaker decided it was time for a fresh start. Starting in 2017, design experts worked to create the new logo that will help lead Nissan into the 2020s.

Nissan’s Senior Vice President of Global Design Alfonso Albaisa assembled a team of respected designers led by Tsutomu Matsuo, the Deputy General Manager of Nissan’s Advanced Design Department. Together, the team worked to create a new logo inspired by the following words which reflect Nissan’s mission: thin, light, and flexible.

Several factors had to be considered by the team during the process. The logo had to be easy to read from a distance when illuminated and it had to represent a change from the old blocky and rigid logo. Albaisa noted that while they worked to create the logo, “visions of digitalization started swirling in our heads.”

The new logo will first appear on the all-electric Nissan Ariya crossover. And you’ll soon be seeing it pop up right here at James Ceranti Nissan.
