Summer Road Trips | Greenville, MS

Summer is just around the corner, and for many of us that means long trips in the Nissan to any number of exciting destinations. During one of those long drives, it’s easy to slip in your diet and pick up an quick burger or bag of chips, especially when you have a car-load of hungry kiddos. Stay strong with these scrumptiously healthy road trip snacks that the whole family is sure to love.

Flavored Nuts

Nuts come in all flavors and sizes nowadays; you don’t just have to choose between “salted” and “unsalted” almonds. Before you embark on your next road trip, pick out some vanilla almonds or wasabi cashews – the options are endless! Always be aware of the allergy restrictions of everyone in your cabin.

Jerky

Get a filling boost of protein in the form of natural and additive-free meat jerkies. There are even non-beef options on the shelves today, like turkey and chicken, for anyone who is trying to avoid red meat.

Fresh Apples

Apples are a great option for healthy road trip snacks. They are refreshing to bite into and offer a serious energy kick. Plus, you don’t need to worry about keeping them cool.

Dark Chocolate

You don’t need to deny your sweet tooth to stay healthy on the road. Pick up some dark chocolate bars or a bag of dark chocolate bark, and even the biggest candy hound will stay satiated from point A to point Z.

Parking in the Shade

2019 Nissan Altima | James Ceranti Nissan | Greenville, MS

Summer is right around the corner and things are already heating up. This is a friendly reminder that it is always best to find a parking spot out of that direct summer sunlight and for more reasons than you might think.

Less Burns – Just about everyone has a memory of scalding themselves on a hot seatbelt or plopping down on someone’s nice leather upholstery in shorts only to yelp and hop out of their seat. Save yourself some discomfort and find a shady spot to stop.

Save your Paint – Ultraviolet light from the sun does constant damage to paint. Vehicles can protect against this with waxes and treatments, but eventually the sun always wins. Extend your paint job’s beauty by keeping it out of direct sun when possible. It may seem extreme, but if your leave your vehicle parked the sun for long stretches and have no other choice, an opaque cover does a lot of work in preserving your paint finish.

Protect your Plastic – Vehicle interiors can get seriously hot in the sun and even though the plastics that make up the interior consoles are resistant to heat, repeated exposure over time will prevail. Reflective window inserts can do a lot to protect interior surfaces when shade isn’t possible, but they can’t help the exterior.
