Nissan to Start Murano Production in U.S.

Nissan Murano Production Moved to Canton, Mississippi

For the first time ever, Nissan Murano production will take place here in the United States. Nissan is moving its production to the Vehicle Assembly Plant in Canton, Mississippi. With the addition of this new model, the plant will add 500 new jobs!

“Recruiting efforts and preparations for the start of Murano production this fall are underway and current employees are excited to add this vehicle to the list of outstanding cars and trucks built in Mississippi,” said John Martin, a Nissan executive, in a statement. “The addition of Murano to our portfolio, coupled with the continued growth and success of the Canton plant, will move us even closer to our goal to build more than 85 percent of the vehicles we sell in the U.S. right here in North America.”

For 2015, the Murano gets dramatic new styling that looks to the future. The front end is highlighted by boomerang-shaped headlights and a large “V-motion” grille. It gets a sleek new look with dynamic bodylines on the sides.

Here at James Ceranti Nissan, we are excited to see Nissan continue its dedication to creating American jobs, and we can’t wait to get the all-new 2015 Nissan Murano on our showroom floor!

Of course, race cars traveling at high speeds need to be able to keep their drivers safe, so they are crash-tested just like regular cars. Nissan released a slow motion video of the ZEOD RC’s crash test, and it’s quite remarkable to see all that carbon fiber in action. Check it out below!

Nissan also released a blow-up view of the ZEOD RC to show us all the inner workings of the innovative race car.

“Most fans don’t get to see what is under the skin of these cars and certainly don’t get the opportunity to see what happens at a crash test.,” said Darren Cox, Global Head of Brand, Marketing & Sales, NISMO, in a statement. “We can’t have everybody in the garage at the race, but through revealing video and images like this and pushing continual updates via NISMO.TV, the fans will feel closer than ever before.”

We’ll get another close look at the ZEOD RC racer on June 1, when the car will make its official debut in race trim at the Circuit de la Sarthe during the Le Mans Test Days.

Here at James Ceranti Nissan, we can’t wait to see the Nissan ZEOD RC take the racing world by storm!

Nissan Goes for the Gold with 2015 GT-R

The 2015 GT-R is one smoking hot car from the inside out, and there is absolutely no denying that. To top it all off, Nissan has added a little something special to its coat of paint.

At a recent journalist event in California, Nissan showed off the Regal Red finish on the 2015 GT-R. You may notice how it sparkles in the sun… and the secret is real gold. Nissan added flecks of gold to the paint to make the Premium Paint option even more premium.

In addition to high end paint so high end that it’s laced with real gold, Nissan added a few more touches to make each 2015 GT-R unique. Each 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine is hand-built and includes a plate listing the name of the engineer that built it. It also comes equipped with new LED headlights and offers a quieter interior ride than the previous model.

However, even with the addition of all of these comfort features, the GT-R doesn’t lose any of its speed or performance capabilities. It will still launch you to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds.

All of these premium features and speed will cost you, of course. The 2015 Nissan GT-R Premium comes in at $106,520. Start saving up, folks. Otherwise, admire the 2015 GT-R from afar, and come test drive a more affordable representation of Nissan luxury and performance right here at James Ceranti Nissan.

Nissan Envisions Future with Cleaner Cars

Cleaner Cars in Nissan's Future with Innovative Self-Cleaning Paint

Image and video courtesy of the Nissan Europe YouTube Channel.

If you’re like most people of the world, washing your car is not at the top of your priority list. Maybe you feel pangs of guilt every morning when you see the ever-mounting layer of grime collecting on your car, but still, there are more important demands of everyday life to which you must tend. In the near future, Nissan may be washing (shameless pun) all that guilt away and providing us with a road full of much cleaner cars…

Nissan recently released a video demonstrating a new “self-cleaning” paint on a Nissan Note. Watch the video below, and prepare to be amazed.

The paint, which was created by UltraTech and sold under the name Ultra-Ever Dry, is a super-hydrophobic paint that creates a thin layer of air between the paint and the environment. This causes water, dirt, and oil to just roll right off the surface.

While Nissan has said this high-tech paint may not end up on a production model, it will most likely be an option for an add-on at the dealership.

Would you like to keep your Nissan car clean with this futuristic paint?

Nissan to Reveal New 2015 Murano at New York Show

New 2015 Murano Sneak PeekThe New York Auto Show is about two weeks away and Nissan has announced that it will unveil the new 2015 Murano there on April 16. To help get us excited for the reveal, Nissan has released a ten-second teaser video.

The shadowy video doesn’t really give much away save for some fine looking angular headlights and the hint of a possible “floating roof” design. It’s not a lot to go off of, but if Nissan’s recent history with concept is any indication, we here at James Ceranti Nissan feel that there is reason enough to be preemptively excited.

Car and Driver thinks the new Murano will resemble the stunning Resonance concept that appeared at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and based on the glimpses from the video, we have to agree.

One thing’s for sure: the 2015 Nissan Murano will definitely be a ground-breaking design that will give us an idea of what we can expect from Nissan’s new design language. So, keep your eyes on New York on April 16 to see the big reveal. Once it’s seen the full light of day, you’ll be able to see it right here at our blog!

Nissan Experimenting with Dealership Layout

Nissan New Retail Concept Could Alter Future Dealership LayoutMost people are familiar with the traditional car dealership experience. Of course, some dealerships take pride in the shopping atmosphere that they offer (like us here at James Ceranti Nissan), and although all dealerships are not the same, most showrooms have a similar dealership layout. There are reception desks and offices and more desks.

Well, Nissan is now looking forward to the future, and the dealership layout may just look a lot different in the eyes of the innovative brand. The experiment has been coined the Nissan New Retail Concept, and the vision involves simply cars and people.

While this might seem bare-bones, we’re guessing that if Nissan wants to do it, it is likely going to be commonplace in the future. Handheld technological devices will make this process possible, and Nissan hopes to provide customers with a more intimate and less daunting buying experience.

Apparently, a dealership in London has been trying its hand with Nissan’s idealized dealership layout, and the results have been impressive in terms of improved customer satisfaction. Their sales have reportedly gone up as well.

What do you think of Nissan’s newest approach to the car-buying experience?

2014 Nissan Rogue Named Top Safety Pick+ by IIHS

2014 Nissan Rogue Named Top Safety Pick+There’s one area where the 2014 Nissan Rogue plays it safe, and that’s safety. For 2014, the Rogue is boasting some major safety updates that drastically improved its safety ratings. These improvements helped it earn the highest rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS): Top Safety Pick+.

To earn this rating, the Rogue received the top “good” rating in five tests: moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint evaluations. It also received a “good” rating in the small overlap test. Scroll down to see videos of the crash tests posted by the IIHS to their YouTube channel.

A new measure the IIHS introduced recently is a rating for Front Crash Prevention, which accounts for crash-preventative technologies such as forward collision warning and automatic braking systems. The Rogue got a “basic” score for having an available forward collision warning system that meets the standard necessary to receive an endorsement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Standard safety features on the 2014 Rogue include Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System, Zone Body construction with front and rear crumple zones, an anti-theft alarm system, and more.

Come see how safe you feel behind the wheel of the exciting 2014 Nissan Rogue at James Ceranti Nissan.

Nissan Works with FedEx to Test the e-NV200 in U.S. Market

Nissan Works with FedEx to Test e-NV200's Delivery PotentialIs there anything better than receiving a much-anticipated package and getting it fast? How about knowing it was brought to you on the wheels of an all-electric vehicle leaving no carbon emissions in its wake? This will soon be the case for package recipients in the D.C. area as Nissan works with FedEx Express to test the Nissan e-NV200 for the first time in North America.

In this ideal partnership, both companies are committed to changing their impact on the environment for the better. This will be Nissan’s second globally-marketed, all-electric vehicle –the LEAF was the first.

Adding the e-NV200 compact commercial van to the FedEx Express lineup matches well with FedEx’s EarthSmart program, which is “designed to guide the company’s environmental commitment in the communities where it operates.”

Nissan Works with FedEx to Test e-NV200's Delivery PotentialInitially, as Nissan works with FedEx, field tests will incorporate the e-NV200 into the routine duties of a delivery vehicle with the goal of discerning its possible future in delivery.

“We’re eager to work with FedEx and other companies to put the e-NV200 through its paces to continue to build awareness of the capability of electric vehicles and to evaluate how well it meets the needs of the commercial consumer,” said Erik Gottfried, Nissan’s director of Electric Vehicle Sales and Marketing. “We’d also like to explore clever uses of EVs in work environments where carbon emissions of gas-powered vehicles make them impractical or impossible to use.”

Even though we at James Ceranti Nissan clearly don’t live near D.C., we’ll be shipping packages to our loved ones in the area in hopes they’ll arrive via Nissan’s e-NV200!

Global Nissan Executive Named to Queen’s New Year Honors List

Nissan Chief of Planning and Excecutive Vice President Makes the Queen's New Year Honors ListObviously, we don’t have a queen here in the United States, but if we did, it would be a pretty cool honor to earn her recognition. That’s why we are so excited for Nissan’s Andy Palmer to be named to Queen Elizabeth II’s New Year Honors List.

Palmer, who serves as Nissan Motor Corporation’s Chief Planning Officer and Executive Vice President, received a new title this year. He is now a Companion of The Order of St. Michael and St. George (CMG).

He was specifically named to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Diplomatic Service and Overseas New Year Honors List for his influential role in bringing significant automotive projects to the United Kingdom, establishing it as a base for automotive manufacturing.

Palmer was also instrumental in forging long-term partnerships with Infiniti, Red Bull Racing, and Williams Advanced Engineering

So what does Palmer have to say about all this recognition from the Queen?

“This award is a genuine surprise and I am humbled, honored and extremely delighted to receive it. I would like to thank all the people of Nissan that have helped me achieve this.”

Congratulations, Mr. Palmer, from your friends here in the U.S.!

Nissan Heritage Car Parade Commemorates a Rich 80-Year History

Nissan Heritage Car Parade Celebrated 80 Years of Nissan InnovationLast month, Nissan celebrated its 80-year anniversary. While the company’s official birthday was Dec. 26, Nissan commemorated the milestone with the Nissan Heritage Car Parade three days earlier.

Over 100 vehicles were driven through the streets of Yokohama, Japan, where Nissan’s headquarters are located, providing onlookers with a vivid display of the automaker’s history.

The oldest car was a 1935 Datsun 14 Phaeton whose owner transported the vehicle over 600 kilometers to be driven in the parade.

“We are here today to celebrate 80 years since the establishment of Nissan, and we have gathered cars from all ages. These cars are a testament to the history of Nissan, and the source of much innovation and excitement over the years,” said Toshiyuki Shiga, Nissan’s vice chairman.

“Today I feel that it is necessary for us to keep making and offering Nissan cars that people will cherish for a long time.”

The parade was the culminating event in a year of celebrations honoring eight decades of Nissan innovation.

We may not have been there for all 80 years, but at James Ceranti Nissan, we sure are grateful for Nissan’s rich history and the numerous advancements that have been made since 1933.
