The all-new, completely redesigned 2013 Nissan Altima has created a lot of buzz since it arrived in dealerships several weeks ago. This innovative sport sedan has been installed with features that were only seen on luxury models prior to the new Altima’s influx. Three of these features we’d like to highlight all center around the rear-camera of this vehicle.
One available luxury option on the 2013 Altima is Lane Departure Warning. The rear camera scans the road for lane markers and the camera is ‘smart’ enough to know if the car departs from the confines of the lane. If this occurs, the camera sends a signal to light up an icon on the dashboard and relay audible cue sounds to the driver.
Blind Spot Warning is another luxury feature that can help make the driver aware of their surroundings. If another vehicle enters Altima’s blind spot, an icon lights up on the dashboard to alert the driver. If the driver disregards the warning and attempts to change lanes by activating their turn signal, an audible cue will sound to alert the driver again.
A third available feature on the new Altima is Moving Objective Detection. When the car is put in reverse, the camera quickly begins scanning the environment behind the vehicle. If the camera detects a moving object while scanning this area, a beeping cue sounds and a yellow frame surrounds the rear camera image in the center dash in the car’s interior.

Windshield wiper functions usually do not get thought about much, but when cold and rainy weather hit, windshield wipers can be invaluable. Nissan took notice to drivers’ needs and added two new changes to their 2013 Altima.
One feature new to the Altima wipers for the 2013 model year is called “auto-park wipers.” When the vehicle is shut off by the driver while the wipers are still in motion, the wipers will now complete a full cycle before coming to rest. This will ensure wipers will always rest at the bottom of the windshield and prevent them from getting stuck and freezing in the middle of the windshield in cold and icy environments.
The other feature now available on the 2013 Altima is the addition of automatic headlights responding to wipers. Headlights on the 2013 Nissan Altima automatically turn on after four wiper cycles. Approximately 30 states require headlights to be on in rain or heavy fog. This new feature of linking headlights to wiper cycles keeps drivers safe and helps them stick to the rules of the road.
These two new windshield wiper innovations come on most 2013 Nissan Altimas. Visit James Ceranti Nissan today to experience this for yourself.
The Nissan Altima has long been a powerhouse in the auto industry and was the second-best selling car in America for 2011. That’s not good enough for Nissan though. Nissan is now making a push to become #1 with a completely redesigned version for the 2013 Altima.
The brand new 2013 Nissan Altima was completely redesigned for looks, driving experience, technology and more. Nissan President and CEO Carlos Ghosn was at the New York Auto Show for the reveal. “This new Altima builds on the fundamental reputation earned over four generations for quality and reliability — and adds class-leading levels of value, innovation, dynamic performance and premium style,” said Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn.
Altima fans will have to sit tight until June before the 2013 version goes on sale. For now, the video of the revealing of the 2013 Altima will have to do.
