It can be frustrating when your car won’t start, but knowing some possible reasons for it can make it much easier for you. Plus, solving the problem yourself, if it’s a simple fix and you feel equipped, can save you from spending money on repairs.
There are a lot of reasons a car might not start, but the most common problem is that your battery has died because a light was left on. In that case, your best bet is to find a friend or another nice person with jumper cables to give your car a jump start. You can tell when your battery has died, if the battery clicks and won’t start.
If the car doesn’t make any noise when you turn the key, there may be a problem with your battery terminal cable connections. If you can start the car by forcing a screwdriver between them and forcibly separating them, the cables need replaced.
If you can hear it turn over, but it won’t start, it could be a problem with the spark plugs or the fuel supply to the engine. There might also be a problem with the carburetor, in which case you’ll need to see a professional.
The second annual Delta Dragon Boat Festival took place last weekend, July 31 through August 1, at Lake Ferguson in Greenville, Mississippi, and just like last year it was a big hit! Lots of locals came out to enjoy the festival and watch the race.
Dragon boat racing has a long history in Chinese culture, and the Delta Festival celebrates this tradition and its Western modernization as an athletic competition. There are 22 team members per boat, and the race requires cooperation and teamwork.
The festival started Friday evening with a Chinese Gala featuring Chinese cultural entertainment and food prepared by a local chef. Last year’s race winners, as well as the winners of the Children’s Pageant, were celebrated in the Dragon Parade, which took place first thing Saturday morning.
The bulk of the event took place Saturday, with booths set up for food vendors and free entertainment like face painting, while the race was going on. It was a great family event, and we hope it will be around next year!
